EcoAra is an customizable open-source modular eco-system hardwired to the internet. Participants select the eco-system components that seem most interesting to them (worms, mushrooms, flowers, soil, etc.) and then insert them into the sculptural frame. Once they're in the frame, the components create a small-scale eco-system. This ecosystem is photographed every thirty minutes by a built in camera and uploaded onto a web page, side by side with other people's eco-systems. Together, the web page becomes a representation of everyone's collective action to nurture nature. This system in turn is linked to the health of the biosphere from data at the world wildlife fund.
