Taiwan

Symbiosis

  • Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 6

Symbiosis refers to the relationship of organisms existing in close proximity to each other, in which the relationship proves beneficial to both. In this site specific, multi-media, interactive installation, the symbiotic relationship becomes one of harmony between man, plant, and machine, which temporarily suspends the many contemporary detriments that exist in each of these connections. Facilitated and augmented by technology, the plant is able to “perform” by producing immersive and shifting audio and visuals in which the man, the user, is able to interact and effect with their own physical bodily gestures, thus creating a transcended experience in which the user truly feels their connection to the world around them.

This project aims to engage a user (or multiple users) in an embodied sense to create a very literal physical participation. The body of the user becomes the tool through which they shape the audio and visuals “produced” by the plant via body motion. The resulting performance becomes an audio/visual collaboration meant to evoke a temporal sense of place and interconnectedness of energy.

Temple of Taste and Remembrance

  • Brooklyn Bridge Park

Sacra are currently gathering data to build The Temple of Taste and Remembrance, an interactive archive that attempts to collect and catalogue the relationship between eating and memory. As people explore the barge, we want to invite them to harvest things from the garden and bring them to us. We will ask them a series of questions about their associations/experiences eating what they've gathered and record their answers using audio and notecards. We will separate responses according to type of plant, so that as the day goes on participants will be able to access previous associations/experiences.

Flocking Birds

  • Brooklyn Bridge Park - Pier 6 Brooklyn, NY, 11201 USA

Flocking Birds is an ongoing movement and art project on human migration and existence started by Hyojin Yoo and Nupur Mathur.

The project's goals are to question the limits of human migration and our separation from the natural world by bringing immigrant communities together to make visible the bureaucratic, share the personal, reveal political histories and revisit our relationship to the earth.

We do this by hosting immigration/migration parties that occur in private or public spaces through a word of mouth network nurtured by us and the people we are meeting along the way. Collaborators thus far include international artists, political asylees, undocumented citizens, and other interested academics, lawyers and researchers.

Join us for the second immigration party on October 2, 2016. The event is free and open to the public.
